Third Annual Alliance for Liberal Learning Conference:
Connecting Business and Liberal Learning

The mission of the Alliance for Liberal Learning (ALL) is to promote conversations about great works and ideas and to strengthen the institutions that champion liberal learning. ALL brings together scholars, academic program administrators, business and nonprofit leaders to share best practices and discover new opportunities.
ALL recognizes the biggest challenge facing its membership is to communicate a clear, compelling message of the power of a liberally educated populace. A strong value proposition expressing the link between liberal learning and success in the workplace can expand the circle of true believers. This is possible because the evidence is clear: Great Books and great discussions make great leaders!
The theme of this year’s conference is “connecting business and liberal learning.” Organizers will give special consideration to proposals that explore partnerships, marketing efforts and other initiatives that demonstrate how those trained in the liberal arts possess the leadership and critical thinking skills coveted by employers. Other topics include:
- Case studies on productive collaborations/partnerships
- Crafting the value proposition for liberal learning
- Marketing effectiveness: Optimizing social media and other channels
- Governance issues facing nonprofit
- Building a strong philanthropic culture
- Running an effective grant writing operation
- Innovations in curriculum and professional development
Please submit an abstract of 500 words or less by October 15th, 2017 to John Riley, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Alliance for Liberal Learning is not seeking academic papers and will not require advance submission of the presentations. Conference proceedings will not be published. Handouts or other materials, if used, will be produced at the presenter’s expense. The ALL program committee reserves the right to reject proposals. Proposals will be selected based on their relevance to the conference theme and originality. All presentations must be strictly non-commercial, with no promotion of any specific products or services.
